Scissor Lifts

Scissor Lifts

The scissor lift, often acknowledged as a platform lift, is an industrial lift that has been modified for usage in wholesale and retail environments. Industrialized platform lifts have been utilized for decades in the manufacturing and production industries to effectively raise and lower people, materials and equipment. The scissor lift is a platform with wheels that operates like a lift truck. It is useful for tasks that require the mobility and speed of transporting people and material into the air.

Scissor lifts can reach anywhere from 6.5 to 18.8 meters or 21 to 62 feet when completely extended. It is not like other types of platform lifts that employ a straight support to hoist its platform, rather it has folding supports directly underneath the platform that come together to stretch the platform upwards. Offered with either an electric or hydraulic motor, the scissor lift offers a rough ride due to the lift's construction that keeps it from roaming with a constant velocity. Instead, it travels faster in the middle of its path and slows down with more extension.

Ever since the first scissor platform lifts were produced in the 1970's, they have seen various upgrades in the resources used and safety features added, while still keeping with the same base design. Closely associated to the lift truck, scissor lifts are in reality identified for their effectiveness and portability, as they are the only industrialized platform lift that can be simply kept in a corner spot in the office. They are most oftentimes utilized indoors from warehouses to automotive restoration, these equipment function in many diverse worksites carrying out many different projects.
